The Board of Governors consists of 15 members.
Nine members are appointed by the governor of Colorado to serve four-year terms as voting members. Voting members may be appointed to a maximum of two four-year terms.

The six non-voting members represent CSU, CSU Pueblo, and CSU Global, with one faculty member and one student leader from each university. Non-voting members are elected to one one-year team; faculty representatives can serve a second term if reelected.
