ROZE HENTSCHELL

CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER

As Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Roze Hentschell works with the three Colorado State University campuses on matters related to academic and student affairs. She serves as the primary liaison between the CSU System and the Colorado Division of Higher Education, sitting on the Academic Council of CDHE and advises System leadership on legislative affairs that relate to academic matters. Dr. Hentschell also works to advance the Board of Governors strategic priorities across the system.

She served for seven years as the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Liberal Arts at CSU Fort Collins. Dr. Hentschell recently completed the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows program, immersed in the study and practice of higher education leadership, both with the ACE curriculum and in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at the University of California San Diego, her host campus.

Dr. Hentschell received her B.A. from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and her M.A. and Ph.D in English from University of California, Santa Barbara. A scholar of renaissance literature and culture, she is a professor of English at CSU Fort Collins, where she has taught since 2002, and has published numerous books and essays in her field.

Her most recent book, “Transforming Leadership Pathways for Humanities Professionals in Higher Educations,” was published by Purdue University Press in 2023.
