Executive Vice Chancellor

Rico Munn serves as CSU’s Executive Vice Chancellor. He will hold this title until June 30, 2027, when he will become the next chancellor of the Colorado State University System. He previously held the role of Vice President for Metro Denver Engagement and Strategy, where he oversaw the CSU Spur campus and led efforts to deepen the university’s engagement in the metro Denver region. Munn has also served as Chief of Staff to CSU President Amy Parsons. Prior to his work at CSU, he spent a decade as superintendent of Aurora Public Schools. His experience also includes more than a decade of legal practice and public service as executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education and of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. He served on the Board of Governors of the CSU System from 2013-2020, including two years as chair; on the Colorado Board of Education from 2003-2007; and served on the Board of Directors for Midland University. Munn graduated with a BA from Midland Lutheran College and earned his juris doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He also has a graduate certificate in crisis management from St. Joseph’s University.
