Board Policy
Campuses have the discretion to offer credit courses in places remote from the main campus through approved distributed learning technologies and/or Higher Education Centers. Higher Education Centers and remote offering of degrees require approval by the Board, the appropriate accrediting association, and any other states and/or countries of planned operation.
Procedures
- Campuses seek Board approval to deliver programs through distributed learning technologies in accordance with Policies 302 and 305.
- The Academic and Student Affairs Committee considers proposals for Higher Education Centers remote from the main campus, which must include, in addition to the requirements outlined in Policies 302, the following information:
- Specific programs and levels of instruction proposed;
- Documentation of need for the Center to serve the targeted population;
- Sources of funding to sustain the Center, Center facilities, and other space available in the community;
- Arrangements for administration, local coordination, academic support, and student services; and
- Benchmarks to evaluate success of the Center and its approved programs.
- The Academic and Student Affairs Committee evaluates the requests and presents recommendations to the Board.
- Upon Board approval, the Chief Academic Officer notifies the CCHE and other interested parties and organizations.
