Governance

The state of Colorado, through the Governor and the state legislature, provides oversight of the state’s higher education system and its eight governing boards. The Colorado Commission on Higher Education, also known as CCHE or the Department of Higher Education, acts as a central board for policy implementation, legislation and coordination with Colorado’s governing boards and public institution leaders. CCHE commissioners and the executive director are appointed by the governor.

Colorado State University System is governed by an appointed nine-member Board of Governors, as established by state statute.
