Board of Governors
Statement
May 20, 2009
In a public meeting today, the Colorado State University System Board of Governors met to discuss voluntarily disclosing a portion of its executive session meeting on May 5, 2009. The portion of the tape recorded executive session the board voted on to release includes the presentation Mr. Joe Blake gave to the full board, which includes students and faculty representatives; the full board’s interview with Mr. Blake; and the full board’s discussion concerning Mr. Blake as a candidate for the chancellor.
“It is in the public interest for this board to voluntarily disclose the board’s interview and discussions concerning Mr. Blake’s candidacy,” said Douglas L. Jones, chair of the CSU System Board of Governors.
The board members who attended the meeting unanimously supported the decision to disclose the recordings.
“The public now has the opportunity to hear the basis for our decision to select Mr. Blake as the finalist,” Jones said.
Mr. Blake consented to the release of these recordings regarding his candidacy as chancellor at the May 5th executive session.
